Orange Anchor Art School es un lugar donde cada ser humano, sin importar su edad o nivel de habilidad, puede aprender a desbloquear su potencial creativo.

 

En Orange Anchor, todos son bienvenidos.

 

Creo que todos tienen una historia que contar y algo que necesitan decir. Las artes visuales y la escritura creativa brindan a los seres humanos la oportunidad de expresar quiénes son, de dónde vienen y qué aspiran traer a nuestro mundo.
 

Valoro las prácticas de enseñanza culturalmente receptivas y me aseguro de que haya presentaciones y representaciones claras tanto del arte como de los artistas para los estudiantes de BIPOC. Animo el entusiasmo contagioso, la celebración de los errores como oportunidades de crecimiento, la bondad, el cuidado propio y el conocimiento de uno mismo. Desafío a los estudiantes a que se esfuercen al máximo y vivan los momentos en que el rostro de un estudiante se ilumine con orgullo, alegría y autosatisfacción porque lo consiguió o porque dominó una nueva habilidad.

Heather Rigney

owner, lead instructor

Owner/lead teacher at Orange Anchor, Heather received her MAT from RISD and taught in Warwick Public for 13 yrs where she received National Board Certification in Visual Arts. She took time off in 2011 and wrote 3 historical fantasy novels about a homicidal mermaid in Pawtuxet Village, the Amazon bestselling series, The Merrow Trilogy. Heather then returned to the classroom to teach K-8 at The Lincoln School, Providence.

 

Heather is committed to creating an all-inclusive learning environment where everyone can thrive as a creative individual. She opened Orange Anchor in 2022 to provide the local community with quality DBAE-infused art instruction

Hollis Hickerson

A fiber artist and illustrator, Hollis likes to think of themselves as a whimsical creator. Their personal work is inspired by nature, folklore, and storytelling. Their teaching is inspired by play. With over 10 years of teaching experience, facilitating art workshops, and a background in early education, Hollis enjoys leading lessons that help creators follow their curiosity, whether it's with a particular medium or concept.
